This oil is macerated in sunflower (helianthus annus), the flowering tops of St Johns Wort are used. The herb makes the oil a rich red colour.

It is useful in massage and can be used on skin for burns, bruises, wounds (especially where there is nerve damage), varicose veins and haemorrhoids. It can also be helpful for sciatica, shingles, neuralgia, fibrositis, rheumatism and muscular pain.

Allow a 12 hour period to elapse after application before skin is subjected to strong sunlight, due to possible photosensitivity.
